Open Studio Weekend

Access to an artist’s studio is a rare thing indeed. After all, that’s where the creative hard work happens. But with the Open Studio Weekend (OSW), visitors have the chance to see a multitude of artists in their natural habitat. The event raises funds for Louisville Visual Art and UofL’s Hite Art Institute’s programs. The kick-off Live OSW Painting Event is on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Louisville Visitors Center. The exhibition at the Cressman Center during the Nov. 1 Republic Bank First Friday Hop from 6 to 8 p.m. features a peek of things to come (the show is up through Dec. 14). The self-guided tours are from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Ticket price includes the artist directory and studio guide; an app is also available. Free LouVelo Bike rentals are available during OSW. —Jo Anne Triplett
