Artist Waller Austin’s wife Whitney survived 12 gunshots on Sept. 6 during the recent attack in Cincinnati at the Fifth Third Bank. For obvious reasons, Austin’s September show at The Tim Faulkner Gallery was postponed. Co-owner Margaret Archambault said Austin had prepared a “silly art exhibition,” but this show is “a much different installation in response to the incident.” The opening is 6 to 11 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5, with a performance piece at 9 p.m. The Austin family has formed the nonprofit Whitney Strong for “reducing gun violence by promoting, advocating and supporting responsible gun ownership.” Proceeds from several pieces will go to the foundation, and donations may be made at whitneystrong.org.
