Nancy McCabe & Bobbie Ann Mason

In her highly acclaimed novel “In Country,” Bobbie Ann Mason explores a teenage girl’s relationship with her father, who died in Vietnam before she was born. It’s no surprise that when Margaret McMullen decided to compile “a collection of intensely personal essays written by great women writers telling … about their fathers and how they came to know their fathers,” she turned to Mason, one of Kentucky’s most treasured authors, to help her “make sense” of her own very close relationship with her father. Mason will be at Carmichael’s Bookstore Saturday reading from and signing copies of “Every Father’s Daughter: Twenty-four Women Writers Remember Their Fathers,” along with Nancy McCabe, whose essay is also included in this volume.
