Thousands of people travel to the monarch butterfly reserve in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico each year to watch as the creatures turn the Oyamel firs of the forest a brilliant, shimmering orange. Conservationist Tavia Cathcart Brown has visited the famous site twice: once in 2016 and again this year. Fresh from Mexico, Brown, who is described as “warm” and “effusive,” will share her footage and travel experiences, as well as data on monarch trends, conservation awareness and tips on home butterfly rearing.
