‘Locus Of Control’ By Joy Wilson

Artist Joy Wilson lives in Columbia, Missouri, but hasn’t forgotten her Lexington roots. Her latest series “Locus of Control” consists of an abundance of flowers inspired by ones found in Kentucky. But she goes deeper than reimagined Dutch-style still lifes. Wilson is a narrative painter, so her art “explores how these roots create beauty and are grounded in organic images and thought processes.” The opening reception will be held during the Nov. 2 Republic Bank First Friday Hop from 6 to 9 p.m.
