Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic

The basketball season ended a little early for UofL and UK this year — certainly did for Indiana (my alma mater) — but the stars of next year will be in action. The Derby Classic, an all-star game for the best high school seniors in the country, was first played in 1973, and has seen all-time greats, like Isiah Thomas and Dominique Wilkins. This year will feature four of UofL’s top-10 recruiting class, two from UK’s top-rated class, three who are headed to IU and one set to play for Western Kentucky. The rest of the rosters will be filled with top-50 recruits. If you like basketball, this is a great event, and one of your only opportunities to watch basketball again in Freedom Hall, still the best basketball arena in the world.
