‘James Grubola: The Friday
(and Thursday) Sessions’

It takes discipline to be an artist. Just ask James Grubola — I’m sure this is something he stresses to his drawing students at UofL. For many years — 43 to be precise — he did weekly life-drawing sessions. Grubola stopped for a while but started up again in 2014. His solo exhibition “The Friday (and Thursday) Sessions” features these new drawings. The opening reception is Jan. 19 from 6-8 p.m. Another exhibition, “Selections from the Teachings of James Grubola,” is at UofL’s Schneider Hall Galleries. Want to know how teaching art works? See this show of drawings by Grubola’s students up through Feb. 9.
