‘Inside The Experience of Addiction’ by Keith Auerbach

Remember that old commercial, “This is your brain on drugs?” An egg frying in a pan never looked so scary. Of course, that was the point. Photographer Keith Auerbach’s exhibition is similar but less jolting. “Inside The Experience of Addiction: Photo Stories On Using, Abusing, and Recovery” is a pictorial of what Dr. Keith Auerbach sees in his work as a physician. “This exhibition takes an empathic look at the nature of addiction, how addicts think, feel and act,” he explains. “The images and words are derived from an amalgam of my clinical and artistic practices. Their juxtapositions are meant to engage and challenge the viewer to discover new connections and insights. My overall goal is to provoke questions, curiosity and discussion.”
