With a nod to René Magritte’s “The Treachery of Images (This is Not a Pipe),” this is not a chair. In “In The Hot Seat,” the chair is more than a functioning object to rest your weary behind. KMAC Museum curator Joey Yates said the exhibition “offers insight into how the chair is being continually reimagined in contemporary artistic practice. With arms, legs, a seat, and a back, the chair can become a surrogate for the human body, reflecting the essence of a person and the lived experience.” The group exhibition features over 30 artists, including David Iacovazzi-Pau, Barbara Kasten and KCJ Szwedzinski.
