Staff Pick: ‘The Ideal Viewer’
by Thaniel Ion Lee

If you like art that makes you work, then Thaniel Ion Lee is an artist for you, and you are the viewer for him. And if you’re unfamiliar with his work, you’re in luck, because KMAC Museum is displaying a retrospective of his art. His first solo museum exhibition will be full of the conceptual art he demands of himself and his viewer. “My work is about exploring both the body and the mind,” Lee said. “[It] attempts to make the viewer look beyond the everyday by juxtaposing unrelated symbols and words to force the viewer to connect concepts that are normally separated in the viewer’s mind.” The opening reception and artist talk are during the March 2 Republic Bank First Friday Hop from 5-9 p.m.

FRIDAY, MARCH 2–MAY 27
