The I Am Ali Festival marks the second anniversary of Ali’s passing with events all over town including local art, performances, films and live entertainment. Visit the Muhammad Ali Center’s website for details on all of the events, but here are a few that caught our eye, including The Stories of Ali: West End at the Ali Center on June 2. Contemporaries of Ali will share stories of him during his time in West Louisville. On June 6, a yoga class at the Ali Center will incorporate Ali’s six core principles. And on June 7, Jaison A. Gardner and Dr. Kaila Story, the hosts of 89.3 WFPL’s “Strange Fruit” podcast, will present “Musings on Politics, Pop Culture & Black Gay Life,” a lecture on Ali’s legacy and influence, and bridging the gap between Ali and LGBTQ icons.
