Historical Picnic & Croghan Family Wedding

Not a fan of Forecastle’s Saturday lineup? Want to do something more relaxing? Well, sadly, Locust Grove’s Jane Austen Festival is on a one year hiatus, but to make up for it they are throwing a historical picnic and 1822-style wedding for all you Janeites out there. There will be a special reading of Jane Austen’s early work by members of the Kentucky Shakespeare Company, a reenactment of the wedding of Ann Croghan to General Thomas Sidney Jesup, which apparently was “a splendid wedding accompanied by much hustle and display,” plenty of food and a luscious lawn to enjoy a picnic on. And if you’re up to it, grab your best historical attire and come dance at the late night ball.
