Popularity of the “Potterverse” didn’t die with publication of “ …Deathly Hallows” Or even with that novel’s film adaptation. Spin-offs in various media are keeping the torch lit quite handsomely — and the latest, a book edition of the stage play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” is about to get a deluxe launch. Locally, Carmichael’s is throwing a late-night party leading up to midnight, since sales of the book are officially supposed to start on the July 31. Attendees will be sorted into houses and then invited to a tabletop Quidditch tournament. The book’s age range is considered 9 years old and up, but anyone who knows a Muggle from a Mudblood is aware of this magical world’s capacity to appeal to multiple generations — so the costume contest may well be the highlight of the evening (until the books come off the shelves, that is).
