Greece gets a lot of flack these days for being financially insolvent and their neo-nazi political party, the Golden Dawn. But hey, it’s Greece! How can you not love their gorgeous artwork and spectacular food? Or the beautiful language and cultural heritage that has informed so much of Western culture? Well thanks to the Greek Festival, we can experience and celebrate everything great about Greece without the expensive plane ticket. There will be authentic Greek food including spanakopita, gyros and baklava; Greek music and dancing throughout the weekend; inflatables and obstacle courses for children; and the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival will be presenting Aristophanes’ “The Birds.”
