Gallery Talk: Art and Photography

What is the story behind the art? Here is a chance to find out. The Speed Art Museum Gallery Talks series is a monthly event during which artists, photographers and other experts host a discussion on current exhibits. By exploring the art through the lens of a specific topic, it is an opportunity to engage with the art on a totally different level. This month, Lucy Kacir, the Speed’s community outreach and studio programs coordinator, looks at the photographic process used by artists in the exhibit, “Southern Accent: Seeking the American South in Contemporary Art.” Hint: They didn’t use an iPhone. The real history will surely deepen your perspective, understanding and appreciation for the art.
