Hosted by the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence, this installment of the “In Focus” series is about German Jewish immigrants who founded B’nai B’rith, a fraternal order, once arriving in America. B’nai B’rith helped this minority group assimilate while “simultaneously cultivating religious and ethnic identity … [including] new insights into the social and economic life of this city by illuminating German-Jewish immigrants’ scramble for a foothold in their new home,” according to the Filson website. As with all Filson events, this will surely bring a fascinating, deeper understanding of Louisville’s history, and also the roots of its strong Jewish community.
