‘Eyesight Series’ By John King

John King is battling a neurological disorder that will likely rob him of his eyesight. He has also been challenged with stints of homelessness due to a series of events that began with the economic downturn of 2008. Despite these hardships, he has managed to push forward with his art. With his new series “Eyesight,” King takes himself and us past his misfortunes with his soulful sculptures, created using post-consumer glass materials. Reflecting on his work in the show, King said, “It is amazing the things in our life we take for granted until they are gone. Eyesight will be one of them.” Opening reception with the artist will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 6.
