John Begley retired from UofL in 2014. But, as his current solo exhibition at the university’s Cressman Center shows, he’s a gotta-do-something-creative kind of guy (I understand; I’m not-quite-retired myself). He has created digital drawings on his iPhone daily since his departure and is up to nearly 2,500 drawings. “My art training was as a printmaker, and I have an egalitarian mindset,” said the recent LVA Honors Legacy awardee. “I think the exhibit on a certain level demonstrates the availability of art-making and creative self-image formation that technology today provides.”
