Staff Pick: ‘David Iacovazzi-Pau: New Paintings’

Get to know your art neighbors — that’s the philosophy behind David Iacovazzi-Pau’s new body of portraits. “I continue to seek to expose my vision of people in my community who by their work and dedication enhance our reality,” he said, such as the Louisville Orchestra’s Music Director Teddy Abrams and the Speed Art Museum’s Chief Curator Erika Holmquist-Wall. The 15 works in his latest exhibition also include a portrait of Maurice Gattis, a UofL professor who focuses on LGBTQ issues. Iacovazzi-Pau’s believes that portraiture can ease social conflicts by “seeing our shared humanity.” The opening reception is during the April 6 Republic Bank First Friday Hop from 6-9 p.m.
