‘Culture & Community’ by Ross Gordon

After viewing a book of Arnold Newman portraits, Ross Gordon gave himself the task of photographing many of the artists and art professionals in our area, including yours truly. He ended up with over 120 portraits, producing a visible record of local creatives. A few are currently on display in the restaurant Proof on Main, with plans to rotate the images quarterly. “I started calling everyone I knew,” says Gordon, “which led to more and more artists. I decided that it would be important to include collectors, gallery owners and curators as well. Anyone and everyone who made the scene in Louisville what it is. It was an absolute joy. There are many more and I wish I could have photographed them all.”
