There are nonprofits that deliver food to the hungry and medicine to the sick. It’s crucial, valuable work. But in parts of the world where clean drinking water is scarce, food and medicine can only nourish and heal if those in need first have access to water that won’t give them cholera, giardiasis or other waterborne diseases. Louisville-based WaterStep does just that, and they do it more effectively and more efficiently than just about anyone else in the world. You can support their mission to make safe water accessible to everyone on the water Saturday at Captain’s Quarters. Drop anchor or settle in near the waterfront stage and enjoy bands all afternoon. I think we can all drink to that!
