Don’t let the title of Sarah Crowner’s upcoming exhibition, “Clay Bodies: Moving Through Ceramics,” fool you. She is not a ceramicist. It is better to describe her as an abstract painter whereas elements in her work are ceramics, usually by other artists. Calling her an installation artist isn’t too far off either, for she takes over entire areas, as in the KMAC show. “I see my practice as a way to call attention to the spaces outside of the painting, as an immersion in the world at large,” said the Brooklyn artist.
