Bud Dorsey’s Louisville: African-American Life Through The Years

Bud Dorsey has spent over 50 years photographing Louisville, in particular, capturing the experiences of African-Americans. What started out as a hobby turned into a freelance side job that led to over two decades as the only full-time photographer for the Louisville Defender. His work also has appeared in JET and Ebony, as well as the Courier Journal. “Mr. Dorsey teaches us how to look at our community: with love, curiosity, respect, nuance, concern, playfulness, hope, heartbreak and pride,” according to event organizers. “Considered collectively, his photographs are a love letter to Louisville. …”
