‘BOUND’ by
Carolyn Whitesel

Wander back to yesteryear, when a book was made by hand and the outside art was as important as what was inside. The show “BOUND: Bindings, Papers, Poems & Book Art by Carolyn Whitesel” is a reflection of that time. Working in all things paper, Whitesel is a bookbinder who creates with handmade paper, cut paper and letterpress printing. Her company Yellowbird Editions produces handcrafted note cards, paper and journals. Along with two gallery talks, Whitesel will be conducting hands-on workshops on case binding and stamped paper on May 8-9 and May 29-30. Each workshop is $85. Call the museum to register. The exhibition is part of Portland Museum’s “Celebration of the Book: A Year of Book Arts.”
