African Heritage Festival

Celebrate the art, culture, history and unity across the African diaspora in Louisville. On Friday night, tune into the documentary “Black n Black” at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage. Saturday morning, cheer on your favorite local team in a soccer tournament at Thurman Hutchins Park — with players from over 20 countries — or indulge in a brunch at the Louisville Memorial Auditorium honoring elders. And Saturday afternoon is jam-packed with food and craft vendors, live entertainment and a kids zone at Ben Washer Park. As festival organizers put it: “Whether their families have just arrived or have been here for hundreds of years, people of African Heritage bring so many positive assets to this city. That’s certainly worthy of celebration!” —Emma Rubin
