Are you an Emma? Think you are a Mr. Darcy? Then you should be attending the largest Jane Austen event in the U.S., right here in our backyard. The Greater Louisville Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America is hosting as many Austen- and Regency-themed events as can be squeezed into three days. There will be fashion shows, teas and a grand ball, plus a “Duel Between Gentleman,” “Bare Knuckle Boxing Demonstration” and visits by Lord Nelson and Napoleon! The featured speaker is Dr. Cheryl Kinney, who will present “The Eulogy Jane Austen Should Have Had.” And what a way to celebrate a passing (Austen died 200 years ago): The Jane Austen Society, along with the public, will attempt to establish a Guinness World Record for the largest mourning procession on Saturday, July 15 at 3 p.m.
