50th Annual World Championship Dainty Contest

You would think that a sporting event designed for those 45 years old and up and coronavirus might not mix. But, the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council is taking the right precautions. The players will compete in person, but spectating will be done from the couch, streamed to Facebook. It’s not the same, but how could you cancel one of Louisville’s most delightful traditions — and in its 50th year, too? The game of Dainty is played by wielding a broom handle, striking a wooden peg lying on the ground, causing it to fly in the air, and hitting it again.
