‘47 Years & Counting!’

“Abstracted realism” may be an art oxymoron, but Jim Cantrell likes the contradiction just fine. It’s how he describes his painting technique. Plus, he’s not attached to one subject matter. Over the years, he’s tackled the human figure (his specialty), landscapes and architecture, among others. His latest theme is birds. And he can build a model ship from scratch (no prefab kits here). To celebrate 47 years of the Bardstown Art Gallery and Cantrell Studio, the gallery is offering a 47 percent discount on any original Cantrell work through December.
