New Voices Young Playwrights Festival 2016 Actors Theatre 7 p.m. Every year Actors Theatre selects eight 10-minute plays from over 500 submissions by middle and high school students in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Then, those lucky playwrights get to work with a professional director and have their work produced on the big stage. And for you, it’s a chance to see the best in this city’s young theater scene.


The Kentucky RoundUps Goodtime Oldtime Kaiju (bar) 5 p.m. Head over to Kaiju where you can catch some old-time folk, gospel and country tunes by The Kentucky Roundups, along with some free grub provided by Dragon King’s Daughter until 6 p.m.


WFPK Waterfront Wednesday Waterfront Park (Big Four Lawn) 5 p.m. Finally, WFPK Waterfront Wednesdays are back! And they’re starting this season off right with plenty of amazing music by 1200, Liz Vice and Rayland Baxter. So get your ass out to the waterfront, lay out in the sun and grass with some food from your favorite food truck and enjoy the show.

UofL Men's Baseball Jim Patterson Stadium 6:30 p.m. Enjoy some of that ballpark nostalgia without all the expenses at UofL this week. Check out the UofL Men’s baseball team as it takes on Florida International at Jim Patterson Stadium. Sadly, the hot dogs and beer still cost money, but they’re well worth it.


Shadowlands: April Edition (concert) Mag Bar 10 p.m. Mag bar has what you need to get your weekend started off right with eight local hip-hop acts who are going to bring the house down for free. Check out Good Bahb, RVCHET, intelli-G x tinyforest, CAVE DWLR, Blaklyt, Counterfeit Money Machine and DJ REWIND.

Louisville Crashers Central Park 7 p.m. If you feel like enjoying some good old classic rock music, but also want to enjoy this lovely warm weather, then come listen to the Louisville Crashers under the night sky of Central Park in Old Louisville.

Kibo Night – Experimental Sounds Kaiju (bar) 9 p.m. Kibo Night is an experimental project by artist Yoko Molotov with improvised noise performances by musicians Harpy, Snow Snake Trio and a number of local musicians from bands including Anwar Sadat, Pleasure Boys, White Reaper and Insect Policy.

Mellwood Art Center Open House The Mellwood Art & Entertainment Center Till 4 p.m. While you're out on your FAT Friday Trolley Hop, rolling up and down Frankfort Avenue, make sure you stop off at The Mellwood Art & Entertainment Center and check out their open house. This massive space is home to a number of art galleries so there is plenty to see. Enjoy!
