Below the Line High Horse Bar Free  |  7 p.m. Local filmmakers present their latest short films.

Mystery Fighting Game Tournament Hideaway Saloon Free  |  10 p.m.-midnight With this fight club, you never know what you’re going to play. Your hosts have a catalogue of zany fighting games. Each match is a random game. Expect “hype commentary and ridiculous games.” Sign-ups start tonight.

TUESDAY, April 12

Ashley C. Ford Floyd County Library, New Albany, Indiana Free  |  7-8 p.m. Indiana author Ashley Ford will be speaking with other writers and thought leaders at the Floyd County Library this week. Ford’s well-received memoir “Somebody’s Daughter” “explores themes of childhood, family, race, body image, education and home.This event is part of the Indiana Authors Awards Tour.

WEDNESDAY, April 13

90s Week Falls City Brewing Co. No cover  |  Times vary Falls City Brewing Co. will be a portal to the ‘90s this week, with ‘90s bingo on Wednesday, a screening of the film “White Men Can’t Jump” on Thursday and a themed silent disco on Friday. Continuing into the weekend, there will be a Birthday Bash on Saturday with cartoons, a Mario Kart tournament, other video games, axe throwing, music and a pop-up shop.

THURSDAY, April 14

Celebration of Ukrainian Poetry Carmichael’s Bookstore, Frankfort Avenue Free  |  7 p.m. Native Ukrainian and Louisville resident Nadiia Lypova presents a celebration of Ukranian poetry “in honor of National Poetry Month, and in solidarity with our human family in Ukraine.” You’ll listen to poems read in both Ukrainian and English, learn how Ukrainian poets celebrated international poetry day and learn about published poetry describing what’s currently going on in Ukraine. A Q&A and group discussion will follow.

Thunderdome: EYES Planet of the Tapes No cover  |  8 p.m. Watch comedians perform stand-up, sketches and visual comedy all based around one theme. This week, it’s EYES.

FRIDAY, April 15

Spring StoryWalk Beckley Creek Park Free  |  Noon-8 p.m. Take the kids on an outdoor storytelling adventure. Read “Over and Under the Pond” together on signs and complete the suggested activity as you walk the paved, Egg Lawn Signature Trail. The story will be up through Sunday

Songkran Festival Logan Street Market Free  |  2-7 p.m. Celebrate Songkran, Thai’s national New Year’s holiday, also known as the water festival. There will be water guns, water balloons and the opportunity to pour water on a Buddha for blessings. Logan Street Market vendor Daisuki wills eve traditional Thai dishes and offer Thanaka, which is traditional face paint. Traditional Thai attire is encouraged. 

Reception: Hite 75th Anniversary Alumni Exhibition Cressman Center for Visual Arts Free  |  5-8 p.m. Thirty-six alumni from UofL’s Hite Institute of Art and Design return to display their work, spanning the mediums of paint, sculpture, glass, photography, graphic design and printmaking. 

PORTAL Presents: Spiritual Cramp + Archaeas + Wiirmz Portal at Fifteentwelve Creative Compound $5 with RSPV, $10 without  |  8 p.m. Danceable post-punk players Spiritual Cramp crash into Louisville from the Bay Area, joining local bands Archaeas and Wiirmz.
