MONDAY, May 17

West Sixth NuLu Community Yoga West Sixth NuLu Donation-based  |  6-7 p.m. This yoga session is for everyone. You’re encouraged to pay what you can, and afterward, if you want to stay for a pint — feel free. You must register online beforehand to attend. 

TUESDAY, May 18

RuPaul’s Drag Race Trivia Chill BAR Highlands No cover  |  7:30-10 p.m. You haven’t been wasting away quarantine by watching seasons of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” you’ve been studying. This trivia night will test your knowledge of the show. Keep your teams to groupings of six. 

THURSDAY, May 20

A Way Forward On Race Online Free  |  Noon-1 p.m. Author and Dean of UofL’s School of Music Teresa Reed tackles race with this discussion, sharing data from her research; insights from her own life experience; and addressing “some of the awkward, but honest questions about race that White people are often afraid to ask.” Reed wants to “explore the paradigm that perpetuates racial tension” and “argue for a new paradigm that can bring understanding, healing, and hope."

Guided Shinrin Yoku - General Forest Bathing Caperton Swamp Park Donation-based  |  Noon-2 p.m. Don’t worry — forest bathing does not involve getting wet. Instead, you bathe in the glory of nature. In this session, participants will be guided on a leisurely walk under the trees of Caperton Swamp Park. Your Shinrin Yoku guide Jennifer Owens will take you through guided activities “to help you open your senses, hone your intuition and experience the forest as you never have before.” Make sure to bring a full water bottle. This is a donation-based class that is pay-what-you-can, although the suggested donation is $20. You can donate through acts of service and other gifts, as well, such as planting trees, picking up litter or giving a homemade gift. This event is mostly 18+, but you can bring a parent, guardian or other adult if you are younger. Forest bathers will meet in the parking lot. 

Walkabout at the Peterson-Dumesnil House Online Free  |  6-6:30 p.m. Check out the gardens of the stately Peterson-Dumesnil House from your own home in this virtual, guided tour. Sarah Clement and Melissa Mershon will take you on a walk about the grounds to see the home’s “various species of flowers, plants and trees.” You can also sign up for giveaways, including tickets to the 2021 Crescent Hill Garden Tour. 

Silent Reading Hour Online Free  |  6-7 p.m. Sometimes you need that extra push to sit down and read the book that’s been sitting on your shelf. Virtually join other readers like you for a quiet hour of flipping pages, accompanied by live piano music from Jeannie Eberenz. (She’ll be breaking out the Disney classics for this session.) This is the library’s last Silent Reading Party until Books & Brews this winter.

Voice & Vision Online Free  |  6-7:30 p.m. Hear seven poets and writers from nearby colleges read their work. See highlights from 21c’s current art exhibition: “What Lies Beneath,” a show held in conjunction with the Louisville Photo Biennial. Make sure to sign up beforehand to receive the Zoom link. 

Small Business Workshops Pocket Change Free  |  7-9 p.m. Learn the basics of running a small business with Change Today, Change Tomorrow’s monthly workshops. May’s installment is a lesson on wholesale and retail. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. 

We Still Like You Planet of the Tapes Free  |  8-10 p.m. A storytelling show with a twist. Four people tell their true tales of embarrassment while an artist depicts their shame at the same time. Seating is first-come, first-served. 

FRIDAY, May 21

Summer Cruise-In Gateway Park, Clarksville Free  |  5-7 p.m. Check out a bevy of classic cars, muscle cars and hot rods in Clarksville’s Gateway Park. The evening includes DJed music from the ‘50s and ‘60s, and food to purchase from Dock Seafood. There’s no fee to come or bring your car, and the first 150 participants will get a free dash plaque for their vehicle.
