Album Review: Tajy — ODD TAPE VOL 1: Westside Story

The production on ODD TAPE VOL 1: Westside Story favors gritty samples, R&B and soundtrack work, warbling in and out like a dusty tape left in the sun too long, punctuated by sub-bass. The energy is off the charts. Every track is an absolute banger, the sort that you put on at a party to impress people with how cool you are. You can hear elements of Prince or G-Funk here, but not in a way that seems particularly indebted to Dr. Dre, despite the ‘westside’ reference in the title.
