From the jump, producer Axel Roley puts you right in it. With Project Blacc: tha fall campaign, Roley leads with a sample that sounds cut as if he’s walking down the street. It’s not exactly a new conceit, but no less refreshing to hear sampling being employed in this way, as if you are there with him. The music is incredibly chill, not at all unlike his previous efforts, focusing on drums laden with ample sub-bass and R&B hooks. In a lot of ways, Roley is tapping into the zeitgeist by creating a kind of Luke Cage-feel to his beats, the kind of thing that puts you in that moment in space and time.
