Gov. Matt ‘Wrong’ Bevin [Thorn]
In the first of what we hope is many slap-downs for our governor, the state Supreme Court has found that Bevin illegally pulled $18 million from state universities. And what did our super-genius governor say about the ruling? “In this case, we have a Supreme Court that has decided to invent new rules on the spot, which is unfortunate,” he said during an interview on WHAS Radio. “There is no law, including any that they pointed to, that we are in violation of. ” Thank you, separation of powers. Many of Bevin’s other unilateral moves — including reconstituting UofL’s Board of Trustees — also are under judicial scrutiny and deserve to be reversed.

Diet Trump’s, er … Bevin’s approval rating is up by a yuge amount in the latest polling from Morning Consult, a nonpartisan digital media and survey research company. Measured from May through early September, 45 percent of us approved of his performance and 41 percent disapproved. Compare that to the first quarter of the year, when 33 percent of voters viewed his performance favorably and 48 percent disapproved.

But does UK men’s basketball head coach John Calipari deserve to be the highest paid state employee in Kentucky — at $6.88 million a year?
