OktoberFest Louisville 2016 (Sept. 9-10)
German American Club

This weekend, you can explore the tastes and sounds of Deutschland without ever leaving the city limits. OktoberFest Louisville will feature plenty of authentic German cuisine (schnitzel, fleischkase, sauerkraut balls, etc.), as well as German dancing and music by Hans Sander and the Rheingold Band. Prost!

SATURDAY

Highlands Fest
900 Block of Baxter Avenue

Everyone’s favorite neighborhood (don’t act like it’s not yours) is throwing a block party! In addition to the rivers of alcohol that will be poured, there will also be local art and craft vendors, live music by What Ever Will and Wildwood, and proceeds from the event benefit The Arrow Fund, which targets animal cruelty.

reGeneration Fair
Waterfront Botanical Gardens
Free (suggested donation: $10)  |  2 p.m.
The Waterfront Botanical Garden hopes to break ground next year, and you can help them reach that goal by attending the reGeneration Fair. The fair will showcase “vendors and booths from around the city and region showcasing sustainable practices” as well as food trucks, adult beverages, a Plein Air Paint Out with Louisville Visual Art and plenty more. The fair is free, but donations will be accepted.

September Art Fair (Sept. 10-11)
Mellwood Art Center
Free  |  10 a.m.
Find your new favorite piece of art this weekend at the September Art Fair. In addition to the usual fair staples (food trucks, adult beverages, live music, etc.) there will also be 165 juried artisans and 200-plus resident artisans. So it’s a safe bet that someone’s work there will tickle your fancy.

SUNDAY

Derby City Sister’s Bingo Benefiting Fed with Faith

Join the Derby City Sisters for a night of drag queens and bingo (and it’s all for a good cause!). Proceeds from this month’s bingo benefits Fed with Faith (which works to provide food, shelter, and essential resources to the city’s indigent youth population). Bring a non-perishable food or personal care item for the AIDS Interfaith Ministries of Kentuckiana‘s food pantry you’ll receive six extra bingo cards. Admission to bingo night also gets you free admission to Louisville’s best drag show with Jade Jolie, Celeste Toni and Leah Halston later that night at 10 p.m. and midnight.
