Disregard whatever preconceived notions you may have going into an album by a band named Sluthole, because this is an incredibly mellow and blissed-out fuzz-fest that includes enormous guitar riffs over simple, elegant drums and honeyed vocals. The end result is equal parts Jesus and Mary Chain and Queens of the Stone Age, albeit with a definitively lo-fi, bedroom tapes kind of vibe. Listed as a collection of demos, Bong Songs: Sluthole’s Greatest Hits, certainly comes across as the precursor to something with a bit more polish, although the imperfections in the recording add a welcome charm to the final product. What comes across perhaps more than anything else is the love of big riffs, which makes for a fun, summertime sound.
