Since the dissolution of the noise titans Crain, Parlour has flourished as an instrumental heavyweight in Louisville. With the release of their newest and self-titled album, the band has eschewed the rhythmic, kraut-rock pulse of their previous material for something far more visceral and biting. The beauty of it all though, is that, despite the fact that this is absolutely a band informed by time and membership change, everything about the record is a natural progression. Where some bands seem to change with age in a bid to win over whatever audience expectation they might believe is there, this just sounds energized with fresh vitality. The end result is a tight and dynamic package with a fiery energy that carries it through the entire time.
