5 Things to do in Louisville this weekend (5/13)

FRIDAY

Poorcastle Fundraiser: A Louisville Tribute to Louisville Music
Zanzabar
$5; 8 p.m., 21+
Join Louisville musicians this weekend to celebrate Louisville musicians! I know it sounds a bit self-involved, but the proceeds go toward funding this year’s Poorcastle (a local music festival for people too poor to go to Forecastle). Bands include The Uncommon Houseflies, Justin Paul Lewis, Nellie Pearl, Ben Traughber and more.

SATURDAY

What the Germantown Festival!?
Germantown
Free; 4 p.m.
This festival/pub crawl explores the wunders of Germantown by taking you through four Germantown bars (The Post, Four Pegs, Nachbar and Kaiju), all packed with special brews from local breweries (Akasha Brewing Company, Monnik Beer Co., Against the Grain and Apocalypse Brew Works), and each stop comes complete with live music from a local band.

Cahoots Benefit Show
Cahoots
$5; 7 p.m.
As you all know, the infamous dive-bar, Cahoots, has lost its liquor license. But to get this storied bar through these tough financial times, it is throwing a fundraising show with some of the best Louisville hip-hop acts (T-Razor, Play Cold, Bird Zoo, Goodbar, Dvvny). And don’t forget to try some of its bomb cheese fries!

Schnitzelburg Arts and Crafts Festival
Schnitzelburg
Free; 9 a.m.
Schnitzelburg may sound like it’s a part of Germantown but it’s a hip Louisville neighborhood with it’s own unique vibe. And they would like to invite everyone to experience it this weekend with the Schnitzelburg Arts and Crafts Festival. There will be plenty of art, food trucks and live music all day.

SUNDAY

RhythOms live music and yoga series
Monnik Beer Co.
$15; 5 p.m.
Before your weekend party ends, and the weekly grind begins, center yourself with some yoga, live music and maybe a little locally-brewed beer at RhythOms. Yoga will be taught by Cat Larimore of 502 Power Yoga, and The Moonlight Peddlers will provide the music. Proceeds benefit the Kentucky Yoga Initiative, which works to build healthy and compassionate communities through yoga.
