on “Trustee Robert Hughes defends UofL President James Ramsey, dissenters hurt university”

What color is the sky in Dr. Hughes’ world? In his commentary he states that he regrets “the embarrassment that the actions of a handful of trustees have brought upon the University and to the community at large.” What?!?! Doesn’t he mean the embarrassment brought on by Dr. Ramsey? ... He says that the board should “advance the best interests of the organization quietly and professionally while doing nothing that would embarrass the institution,” so I guess he is giving Dr. Ramsey a pass for doing exactly the opposite? The board members claim there is little transparency, and that they cannot get the information they request. The glowing performance appraisal that Dr. Hughes refers to the board approving was surely delivered fully written with no chance to amend it. Dr. Hughes loses all creditability by stating that Dr. Ramsey has only done amazing things for UofL, with not even a token admission of all the scandals under Ramsey’s watch. The UofL Board is clearly too insulated from reality, save for the members that Dr. Hughes chastises. —J.C. Grant, March 24

[I’ve] found the Louisville sports fan. Just wants to win and doesn’t care who or what it destroys. Welcome to Floyd Street.

on “The Emperor’s New Clothes: Ex-trustee Steve Wilson says UofL President Ramsey is naked!”

What’s the point of this article? [It] should’ve been titled: “Steve Throws A Hissy.” What businessman, politician or any other person in a leadership role (in any industry, in any country) does not surround [himself] with trusted support? And compensate [him] well? To call President Ramsey out for exercising his Board of Trustees-approved right and to not acknowledge the enormous accomplishments that the university has made under his guidance is unfair lopsided reporting and pandering to a spoiled rich guy who took his toys and went home when the other kids wouldn’t do whatever it was he wanted. Hey, Steve... you’re naked! —Gretchen Stein Henry, March 24

on “The Emperor’s New Clothes: Ex-trustee Steve Wilson says UofL President Ramsey is naked!”

Why is Steve Wilson relatively alone in speaking out? How many more scandals and investigations will UofL suffer before the community realizes that whatever the case: UofL needs a change in leadership? It is, after all, a university and intended to build futures. It should aim for the highest academic accomplishments possible. It should be a resource for all that is fine and good. Instead it seems to have become a permanent haven for administrators under whom things have gone very off-track and for way too long. —Ann Davis, March 25

On LEO’s Fake issue

I enjoyed reading all the satire this morning. This article was outstanding, “Creationist Ham to open Sodom and Gomorrah fun park.” You all did a great job! I am laughing my ass off literally. Thanks for the smiles on a rainy day here in Bourbon Country.
