I Have A Knife: Stupid and Futile Gestures
(self-released) There are few bands that live up to their name quite so much as I Have A Knife. That’s not to say that they definitely have said knife, but given their sonic assault, they might. This is music designed to make you scream at your enemies and rage out in the best, most highly-energetic way. Everything is in its right place from the chunky bass and rocket drums to the distorted guitars, and it is awesome. Singer Sean Garrison has a long history of being a provocateur and it’s on display here, in songs that call out people for being “pussies” or that urge others to shut their mouth. That could come off as belligerent, but here it has classic punk charm, that kind of sneering fuck off that a lot of modern music lacks.
