Filthy Rich: Nightscapes

(Us Natives)

There is proof in advertising, or at least such is the case on the newest collection by hip-hop producer Filthy Rich. With Nightscapes Filthy has gotten into some darker territory, with a sound that skews at times with the ’90s production of the Chemical Brothers, to the subtle creep of Nine Inch Nails, noted here not only as a reasonable point of reference, but as it regards to the inclusion of a cover. That everything is tied up so neatly with a bow in a tidy hip-hop package speaks to the acumen of the artist here and one that continues to grow with each new project. Filthy makes some of the heaviest beats in the city and this newest release reflects his work in the murk and shadows and it works perfectly.
