FRIDAY
Big K.R.I.T.
Mercury Ballroom
$25; 9 p.m.
This Mississippi trap rapper has a laid back flow that works well with his soulful Southern beats. But just when you think you’ve got him figured out, he can kick up the tempo and have the crowd in a frenzy. Not to mention his opening act BJ The Chicago Kid is pretty spectacular as well.
Dia De Los Muertos
South Fourth Street
(between The Seelbach and Hilton Gardens)
Free; 5:30 p.m.
[Art above from CRAFT(s) Gallery’s Day of the Dead exhibit by Kathleen Lolley]
For all of you out there bitchin’ about Christmas decorations already being displayed, what you need to be mad about is people forgetting about Day of the Dead! With all of its Latin flare and beautiful sugar skulls, this holiday deserves a little more attention, which is why you should head down to S. Fourth Street to celebrate this fantastic holiday with altars honoring the dead, some live music, local art, delicious food and, of course, some margaritas!
SATURDAY
Flea Off Market
Fresh Start Growers Supply
Free; 11 a.m., Sat.-Sun.
As you all may recall, Flea Off Market was a staple of fun this summer with its many amazing days of lazy perusing. And just because the leaves are falling and the breeze is a little cooler doesn’t mean they’re packing up just yet. With over a 100+ vendors and some delicious doughnuts provided by Hi-Five Doughnuts, this weekend’s Flea Off is sure to be another memorable one.
Dogtoberfest Fest
BBC East

In addition to the many delicious beers on tap at BBC East, there will also be plenty of dogcentric booths to visit, live music by Whiskey Bent Valley Boys, Uncommon Houseflies and Audio Addiction, as well as a silent auction to benefit places like Derby City Dog Rescue and The Arrow Fund. So bring all your dog loving friends, and don’t forget to bring an empty dog crate.
SUNDAY
“Nosferatu” Cine-Concert
St. John’s United Church of Christ
$5-$15; 7 p.m.
This event couldn’t be more perfect. A screening of the German Expressionist horror film “Nosferatu” in a church with a live performance by Teddy Abrams and Louisville Orchestra. What could be better than watching an eerily captivating film about a parasitic vampire in a dark, haunting church while a live orchestra ratches up the tension and suspense! This is surely going to be one of the most unique, and unsettling, event this year. You won’t want to miss it!
