Call for submissions: The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft is seeking entries for the fourth annual KMAC Couture Art Walks the Runway event which will take place on April 16, 2016. Deadline for submissions is midnight on Dec. 7, 2015. This event features emerging and established regional artists, costumers, designers and milliners and the presentation of their original couture pieces of wearable art and conceptual fashion designs (kmacmuseum.org).

Applications are now being accepted for the Kentucky Arts Council’s Arts Access Assistance Grant grant. The theme for fiscal year 2017 is “Empowering Artists with Disabilities.” Groups interested in applying must partner with an artist or arts organization to develop activities demonstrating a commitment to showcasing art by artists with disabilities, providing professional support for those artists and educating Kentuckians about living with disabilities. The deadline is Feb. 16, 2016 (artscouncil.ky.gov).

Top art events
Glass artist Judith Schaechter will be giving a lecture at U of L’s Cressman Center, 100 E. Main St., on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Free and open to the public (louisville.edu/art).

Oct. 30 FAT Friday Trolley Hop from 6-10:30 p.m. (fatfridayhop.org).

During the Oct. 30 FAT Friday Trolley Hop, the Mellwood Art & Entertainment Center is having a closing reception for Laura Chamberlin. At that time, she will be holding her book launch, with 20 percent of the sales to be donated to Breast Cancer Action (mellwoodartcenter.com).

Opening of “Artists in Our Midst” group exhibition at Kaviar Gallery, 1718 Frankfort Ave., on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6-9 p.m. It runs through Dec. 26 (craigkaviar.com)
