— The National Trust for Historic Preservation (preservationnation.org) has named Louisville a National Treasure. This designation, also known as the “Heart of Louisville,” is for our abundance of historic buildings and neighborhoods.

— Call for artists: NuLu Art 16 is a public art installation sponsored by the NuLu Business Association. They are seeking artists to submit qualifications. Details are on nulu.org/nulu-art-16. Deadline: May 11.

— IDEAS is continuing their art book drive through April 26 during the Mayor’s Give-A-Day week of service. The art books will donated to enhance the libraries at the West End School, YouthBuild and the Shawnee Arts and Cultural Center. Call 812-786-0026 for drop-off locations.

— Evolving is a new gallery at 1912 Mellwood Ave. (evolvinggallery.com).

— Call for artists: The Louisville Visual Art Association and the Community Foundation of Louisville are accepting applications for the 2015 Mary Alice Hadley Prize for Visual Art. One prize of $5,000 will be awarded in June. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, current members of the LVAA and live in the Louisville Metro area. Artists working in the following media are eligible to apply: ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, graphic design, crafts, photography, video and/or film and installation.
