Get ready to unleash your inner mojo. Divine Fits, a “supergroup” including Britt Daniel (Spoon), Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs), and Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks), is letting loose the best sort of burping synthesizer jerks and curly guitar growls that their signature bands play so well. It’s truly the best of all worlds coming together here, yielding suicidal lovesick rampages like “Shivers,” the effervescent summer jam “Like Ice Cream,” and the bass-heavy, spacey production Daniel knows best in “Flaggin a Ride.” In what sounds like a devious ode to lovemaking (some snarled lyrics are just beyond the point of comprehension), “What Gets You Alone” is the kind of burning fire that Boeckner is familiar with lighting. But his new counterparts are adding the fuel, and we’re left with a scorching frenzy of sound that’s too fierce to fight.
