Quarantine the Past

Pavement spent the better part of the ’90s as darlings of critics and geeks alike, and they managed to remain beneath the mainstream radar for most of their career. In the decade since their demise, Pavement has continued to be the standard by which all others have been measured, whether they knew it or not. On the heels of a reunion tour comes this best-of, plucked from the band’s five albums and countless EPs and singles. “Cut Your Hair,” the closest the band ever came to having a hit song, is included, as is the beautifully absurd “Here.” At the end of the day, this collection reinforces Pavement as demi-Gods and leaves you wanting a reunion album.
