Five important questions: Space Wails

Space Wails is Brent Hambleton, Brett Holsclaw and Chris Bald. Holsclaw performs with The Glasspack, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, and Bald is a veteran of the D.C. punk bands Faith, Ignition and Embrace.

Space Wails join
The Toasters, The Kodiaks and The Andalusians Monday, Feb. 16, at Skull Alley (1017 E. Broadway). Tickets are $10 (adv.), $12 (door).

LEO: Describe the band in animal terms.
Brent Hambleton: MOOO!
Brett Holsclaw: WOOF!
Chris Bald: GRRRH!

LEO: I don’t think you can actually wail in space. If you could, how would it sound?
Brent: If a tree falls in the woods, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Brett: The “brown” note.
CB: Define “space.”

LEO: Which appetizer do you order most often?
Group: Astral plankton oscillations!

LEO: List three words that rhyme with each of your last names.
Group: Impossible! A futile task deserves a proactive and smart-assed response. “More bike lanes, less cars, free pizza!” Next question! You guys are just trying to get Brett to say “coleslaw.”

LEO: Any vehicular challenges in the last year?
Brent: Who knocked off my car mirror last week on Bardstown Road? TARC!
Brett: I can’t talk about that. I have terrible car karma that I hope to one day make better.
CB: As a pedestrian, all vehicles challenge me.
