The Louisville Visual Art Association has developed the Linda Schaaf Micro-Loan Program to assist visual artists in their professional and business development. Ali Shaw, the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft’s public relations and marketing manager, has left to work full-time at her own PR firm M2-Maximum Media. KMAC’s new public relations contact is Christy Fuller.
The Louisville Graphic Design Association (www.lgda.org) is hosting a lecture by magazine designer Tricia Bateman on April 24 at 6 p.m. at the Cressman Center.


A painting by Simon Bull has been donated to Gilda’s Club Louisville (www.gildasclublouisville.org). The Muhammad Ali Center has also commissioned Bull to create several paintings that will be unveiled at the Derby.


Flame Run Hotshop and Gallery is hosting a benefit for the Kentucky and Southern Indiana chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (584-8490). The “Glass Extravaganza” art auction and raffle is on April 26 from 5:30-8 p.m.


Thrown Together ceramics studio/gallery at 1806 Frankfort Ave. has closed, with plans to reopen in Southern Indiana sometime in the future.


StudioWorks art studio/gallery is having an open house on May 6 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with music by violinist Micah Chandler.  


Call for Artists: The Fifth Annual Irish Art Contest (www.louisvilleirish.com) is open to all, and you don’t need to be Irish to enter. The theme of the contest is Irish myths and melodies. Deadline is May 6. —Jo Anne Triplett
