27. Can we get serious for a moment? What an outrageous double standard. Couric finally breaks the glass ceiling and lands the network’s top news job, and a CBS-owned magazine puts her on a Photoshop diet, making her appear thinner. This appalling retouched photo underscores the hypocrisy women face in American journalism and the plastic, smoke-and-mirrors of television journalism in general. Not only are Katie’s missing pixels an insult to all women, but now more than ever it’s important to have the daily bloodshed in Iraq, the third-quarter earnings reports and the new ways cholesterol can kill us read by someone with some junk in the trunk. So the answer is A, people. A!
