LA PERLA DEL PACIFICO, 2840 Goose Creek Road, 339-7670. Not just another taqueria but a serious restaurant with a specialty — seafood — that it handles quite well. There are standard dishes like soft tacos and quesadillas, plus more unusual things like octopus. (Reviewed 7/12; Rating: 85)

SARI SARI, 2339 Frankfort Ave., 894-0585, www.gosarisari.com. Popular new Crescent Hill spot — you might call it a “Brother of El Mundo,” as owner Pete Chamberlain and chef Lourdes Fronteras, a native of the Philippines, are in charge of the reasonably priced Filipino delights.
